New Generation Audi TT

The next generation Audi TT will be presented in the beginning of 2013. This car will be constructed on absolutely new platform which also will be used at Volkswagen Golf creation. But thus appearance of a TT will differ not too strongly from present model - the German motor-car manufacturer yet doesn't want to spend courageous experiments with design. The new generation of TT will receive exclusively turbocharged engines, including the diesel engines. However the main rate will be made nevertheless on petrol motors which begin to give out from 160-180 h.p. to 350-380 h.p. on version TT RS.









Let's remind that next year should take place the premiere of the seventh generation Volkswagen Golf which will become a major concern for many models Volkswagen. Engaging and new Audi A3 which for the first time promise to exhaust not only in the form of a hatchback but also as the sedan – similar concept has already been shown on a showroom in Geneva.

Are Electric Cars Gay?

If you’re Vince Vaughn, the answer to that question is an irrevocable ‘yes’. This weekend, I watched The Dilemma, a pretty awful buddy comedy starring Vaughn and Kevin James as hapless pals working in the motor industry, trying to come to terms with their respective relationship issues. In the film, they conceive a not-so-original concept that makes electric cars sound more like their petrol counterparts? Why, because of course, electric cars are gay, or so Vaughn’s character claims in the trailer.

Political correctness-obsessed America swiftly ripped the trailer from national broadcasters after a news furore claiming that it was homophobic duly erupted. Questioned over this, Vaughn replied;



‘Comedy and joking about our differences breaks tension and brings us together. Drawing dividing lines over what we can and cannot joke about does exactly that; it divides us’

An admirable response from the big ‘ol schmuck, and one the certainly makes a lot sense. Referring to an object as ‘gay’ in order to position it as being lower in value or in some way inferior to its ‘non-gay’ cousins (presumably petrol cars) is clearly in opposition to the views of a largely liberal mainstream American audience and quite obviously a self-aware, tongue-in-cheek joke, nothing more.

Of course, amongst all this fuss, it seems some are missing the point. Electric cars are pretty gay... And if you’re one of the people offended by this, taking it as a derogatory term, then you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.



If you’ve ever seen an electric car in action, you’ll be aware that they are sluggish, whisper quiet, environmentally friendly, and altogether unobtrusive. This in stark contrast to say, a fire-breathing V8 muscle car, which is typical loud, brash, dirty and obnoxious, traditional alpha-male qualities, and not gay by any stretch of the imagination.

As car fanatics however, I feel it is our place to question Vaughn’s accusation. It is extremely short-sighted, and not because it violates the proverbial gagging order bought upon the media by values of political correctness, but because, if he had done his research, he would have realised that not all electric cars are as gay as he thinks.

Take the Telsa Roadster, this fully electric performance car has the grunt to challenge petrol powered equivilents like the Lotus Elise and Porsche Boxster. Equipped with a sophisticated electric motor driving the rear wheels, the Roadster develops 248bhp which propels it from 0-60 in a staggeringly quick 3.9 seconds and onto a limited top speed of 125mph.



This is no slouch, and not ‘gay’ by any stretch of the imagination. Vaughn was clearly not aware of the staggering capabilities of the Telsa when he made this sweeping statement. Had he been aware that the Telsa could embarrass many other petrol cars in the same category, he may have been a little more careful with his words.

All we can do now is attempt to educate Vaughn and his chauvinist minions about the electric revolution. Only knowledge can prevent further prejudice, and education about electric cars and their rights should be taught in school and equal values promoted in the media.

Serial BMW M5

And not just another concept or prototype, but the real serial version – in the Internet have appeared the first photos of this model though official presentation M5 will pass a bit later. As earlier it was informed, BMW M5 will receive engine V8 with double forced aspiration which will give out 560 h.p. and 680 Nm (the motor begins to work not with mechanics, but with a gear box with two clutches).

Already dynamic characteristics M5 of new generation are now known also. So from 0 to 100 km/h the sedan can be dispersed for 4,4 sec, and to 200 km/h for 13 sec (for comparison, the previous generation of BMW M5 with motor V10 capacity of 507 h.p. typed first hundred for 4,8 sec).

The maximum speed will be limited at level of 250 km/h, but in BMW is transparent hint that if to remove electronic collar it will be possible to be dispersed up to 305 km/h. Thus, despite increase in capacity and improvement of the dynamic characteristics, new M5 became more economic than the predecessor – the average expense will make only 9,9 l on 100 km. For 560 horses, even with the installed base in the stop-start system is very small.

Audi has launched Q3

Audi started serial production of its smallest crossover Q3 - car decided to make on the Spanish plant in the town Martorell in Catalonia (this company was built in 1993, and until now it has specialized in the production of cars Seat). It should be noted that this is the first time that Audi released it's machines in the factories Seat. It's assumed that Spain will do each year up to 100,000 Audi Q3, while the Germans were counting on high demand. That is why from the beginning to release Q3 decided in three shifts.
In sales Audi Q3 will go with a diesel engine of 2.0 liters (140 hp or 177 hp) gasoline engine of the same volume and 170 hp or 211 hp. I think potential buyers will appreciate the efforts of Audi. Soon we can test this car. Waiting!

Opel Astra GTC. Full info.

In April of this year Opel already showed the first photos of new three-door hatchback Astra GTC. However this time Germans have refused to inform any technical features of the car. And pictures, between us, was a little – only three pieces, and only computer sketches. And here today Opel has extended live photos of the car which will be shown general public in September in Frankfurt (sales in Europe will begin this autumn). In company Opel are assured that Astra GTC is not simply three-door hatchback. As they said, it something bigger, which will fight with Volkswagen Scirocco.

And Opel , seems to be right. Outwardly the car looks very stylishly. In the technical plan the car seriously differs from a five-door hatchback. So, Astra GTC on 15 mm below usual Astra, a wheelbase have increased by 10 mm, the track became wider also (+40 mm in front and +30 mm behind). Besides, the car will receive front suspension HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut) which could be met only on charged 325-strong Opel Insignia OPC – by and large earlier, is the same McPherson, but with separate swivel members (as on Ford Focus RS) and with rigid springs. Plus, there will be mechatronic chassis FlexRide, which will receive three modes: Standard, Tour and Sport.

Versions OPC in scale of new model while aren't present – its occurrences wait in 2012. Therefore while on Astra GTC will put four engines, and a diesel engine only one – 2,0 l and 165 h.p. The most modest petrol unit will be the 1,4-liter motor which gives out 120 h.p. On a step above there will be a car with the same unit on volume, but with a turbo-supercharging – 140 h.p. Mini Coupe. The first information

The fact that the Mini will make a coupe, has been known for a long time. The plans for the production of this model was actually launched two years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And now Mini has published first details about it's most sporting models and till now zero pictures of serial car. Instead, only available official spy photos, which show coupe in camouflage. At the core lies coupe platform from conventional hatchback. And the engines are the same. So why buy coupe instead of the traditional three-door Mini, which is also considered a very sports car? For the sake of appearance, prestige, and almost any other factors.

After all, the chassis there will be more stringent, but if you want you can order sports suspension with shock absorbers and other stabilizers.
And the sports suspension is of two types: hard and superrigidity low clearance from the John Cooper Works (plus the John Cooper Works package offers brake discs increased diameter, as well as other settings steering).





By the way, after the Mini coupe engineers will be engaged closely creation of a new model - a small hatchback Rocketman. He must stand on a step below the current Mini. What could be less? After all, the very Mini model 1959 year from nose to tail, was 3050 mm. A length of the current hatchback is 3,725 mm.

Audi R8 Spyder GT

Initially, Audi R8 in all inferior to his cousin Lamborghini Gallardo, but now the Germans created the flagship version, which can overtake the Italian supercar. Last autumn German company has presented coupe R8 GT, and now come the turn and a roadster to receive the super-power motor. If before top Audi R8 Spyder version received motor V10, with 525 h.p. the version with a prefix GT is equipped in accuracy with the same engine, as well as Lamborghini Gallardo, giving out 560 h.p. Besides, the novelty has the facilitated body (economy – 85 kg). At parallel start such Audi overtakes open version of Lamborghini.

Dispersal to 100 km/h occupies for German car only 3,8 sec while to Italian car is required 4 sec. But on the maximum speed Gallardo remained unbeaten: it is capable to type 324 km/h. Audi supercar remained more slowly on 7 km/h.

External differences fastest R8 Spyder on lower versions can be a massive rear wing. Front of the differences are less visible: the bumper was black flaps on the edges and lip from the bottom.

Two novelties from Skoda

On a showroom in Frankfurt in september of this year company Skoda will present new model – it is a question of the budgetary car which will occupy a niche retired Octavia Tour. This car will be quite adult model of C-class on the European classification which, truth, will be slightly more compact Octavia (last always was one of the largest cars in C-class). Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro 503 h.p.

Very peculiar way, Audi has decided to celebrate the anniversary thirtieth annual gathering of fans cars Volkswagen-Audi Group - Worthersee Tour. Highlight of the Auto Show opened today was an extreme 503-horsepower hatchback Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro. The Germans have turned Audi A1 into a real monster. Four-wheel drive, carbon fiber front bumper, side skirts and hood, lightweight roof made of special polymer, rear bumper with diffuser, extended fenders, spoiler above the third door and descended to the left side pipe exhaust system on the model racing cars DTM. In passing car shod in specially-designed 19-inch wheels with low profile tires dimension 255/30.

Most notably has been rethought interior. Salon is now decorated with black alcantara and decorated with inlays of carbon. Established seats replaced with scoops from the supercar Audi R8 GT with a four-point safety belts. But the most important zest is hidden under the hood. There is now 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo TFSI well known for such models as the Audi TT RS and the Audi RS3, but for the Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro increased it's output almost doubled - to 503 hp! (660 Nm)

Minicar has gained a truly brutal temperament - to conquer the first hundred takes 3.7 sec, the second hundred - 10.9 sec and a top speed electronically limited to 250 km / h. It's clear that the car can go, and faster, but the Germans decided to err on the safe side. Among other features include carbon-ceramic brakes with six-piston calipers on the front axle, adjustable shock absorbers, and an extra battery located under the floor. Of course, speech of the serial or even small-scale production in this case does not go. Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro - a typical show car, which the Germans along the way have tried several design and engineering solutions for the upcoming Audi S1.
